Command Sgt. Maj. Perry hails from Florida and enlisted in the Army in 1993.  He attended Basic Training at Fort Jackson, S.C., and completed the Counterintelligence Agents Course at Fort Huachuca, Ariz. He has associate degrees from Central Texas College and Cochise College.

His assignments include 313th Military Intelligence Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C., when he deployed to Operation Uphold Democracy, Haiti. He also served as a counterintelligence special agent in the 310th Military Intelligence Battalion, Fort Hamilton, N.Y.

In summer 1998, he was selected for a nominative assignment to the U.S. Army Office of Military Support, Washington, D.C. He was then assigned to the 302nd MI Battalion, Heidelberg, Germany. During this tour, Perry deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom and held the positions in Fallujah, Balad and Baghdad. Upon redeployment, he returned to USAOMS.

In April 2011, CSM Perry was selected for battalion command sergeant major for the 310th MI Battalion, Fort Meade, Md.; and served as battalion command sergeant major of the 1st MI BN (Aerial Exploitation) in Wiesbaden, Germany, from March 2014 until its inactivation in August 2015.

CSM Perry was then selected as the U.S. Army Europe G2 Sergeant Major and served as brigade command sergeant major, 902nd MI Group, Fort Meade.

CSM Perry’s military education includes: The Basic Leaders Course (Commandants’ List); the Airborne Course; the Defense Language Institute Spanish Course; Advanced Leaders Course (Commandant’s List); Battle Staff Course (Commandant’s List); the SERE Course; Strategic Debriefing Course; and the First Sergeants Course (Commandant’s List). He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy.

His awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2nd award); Meritorious Service Medal (4th award); Army Commendation Medal (4th award); Joint Service Achievement Medal; Army Achievement Medal (6th award). He also wears the Master Parachutist Badge.

CSM Perry has one son.
