When Bad
Weather Strikes |
NOTE TO SUPERVISORS: Supervisors should activate
their internal alert-notification rosters to inform their work force of
changes to duty status. Employees with the slightest doubt as to their duty
status should contact their supervisor.
When bad weather or road conditions occur that affect operations at
Fort Belvoir, that information is recorded on the Fort Belvoir
Information Hotline at (703) 805-3030 and here at
Belvoir Online. The Hotline and Web site are the best places to check
for information about how the weather has impacted operations on post.
Information is continually updated during inclement weather, both during
and after duty hours, to report measures the post may take as a result
of winter weather storms or other emergencies.
Fort Belvoir operating status is also provided to the local television
and radio stations whose Web links are provided below. In addition to
running weather-status announcements in their on-air broadcasts, most
media outlets also list them in “Operating Status” links on their Web
sites.
Please note that when events are significant, literally HUNDREDS of
organizations in Virginia, Maryland, D.C., West Virginia and
Pennsylvania can and will submit their status to the media. The more
notices there are, the less frequently any one notice is announced. In
some events, it may be a half hour or longer between the time when Fort
Belvoir’s status appears or is heard.
That’s why it is important to know how to get Fort Belvoir’s status
more directly. In addition to your Supervisor, the Hotline and Belvoir
Web site, you can also get email alerts by subscribing to Belvoir News &
Info at http://listserv.belvoir.army.mil/. Info is also posted to Fort
Belvoir's Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/fortbelvoir and Twitter feed at http://twitter.com/Fort_Belvoir.
Other links below provide information that may be of use to you in a
