| The Fort Belvoir Claims Office processes, investigates, and settles claims both for and against
the Army. The following links describe the types of claims commonly processed.
Household Goods Shipment Claims: Damage to household goods and unaccompanied baggage shipments during PCS moves. This link also provides guidance concerning full replacement value moves. POV Shipment Claims: Damage and loss to privately owned vehicles during PCS shipments. Other Incident to Service Losses: On post damage or loss sustained by service members or civilian employees directly related to military service or employment. Claims Arising from Military Activities: Death, personal injury, and property damage or loss resulting from negligence of military members or DoD employees acting within the scope of their employment. Medical Affirmative Claims: The value of medical care provided to soldiers, family members, and retirees, military treatment facilities (MTFs) or TRICARE, as a result of third party negligence. The U.S. may also recover pay of a soldier unable to perform duties as a result of the injury. MTFs may recover the costs of care covered by a third-party payer. |
