Veterinary Services

The Fort Belvoir Veterinary Center is responsible for providing comprehensive veterinary clinical and surgical care for several hundred Government-Owned Animals and Military Working Dogs in the National Capital Region. We also provide veterinary services for pets of active duty, reserve and  retired military personnel as well as  their dependents.  Although our Working Dog readiness mission comes first, we try our best to provide as much veterinary clinical capabilities to the eligible community as possible.

We offer a wide variety of veterinary services for Privately Owned Animals from our caring and knowledgeable staff.  These include: on-post pet registration, vaccinations, heartworm & fecal tests, micro-chipping, flea & tick preventatives, and veterinary requirements for most PCS stations, preventive medicine & minor sick-call appointments. Outpatient anesthetic & surgical procedures are available on a space and personnel available basis only.  We apologize that we cannot accept Walk-In appointments. Unfortunately, we do not see Privately Owned Animal Emergencies.

Please call our Veterinary Center to see about appointment availability.  We are only able to schedule out 1-2 weeks at a time in order to decrease the number of No-Show appointments.  We apologize for this inconvenience.  If you are not able to reach us, and you have an emergency, please call your local civilian veterinarian immediately.
