In February 2009, the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) temporarily raised the transit benefit statutory limit to $230 per month. This new amount was not intended to be permanent and expired on December 31, 2011. Unless a new statutory limit is approved by congress, the statutory limit will remain $125 per month.
