Fort Belvoir celebrates the U.S. Army's 236th birthday at 11 a.m. Tuesday, in front of post headquarters, Bldg. 269, Flagler Road. Tuesday is also the country's 234th Flag Day.
The event is open to the public and attendance is encouraged for everyone, including servicemembers, Families and all Fort Belvoir employees.
The event, hosted by Col. John Strycula, Belvoir garrison commander; features remarks by Lt. Gen. Rhett Hernandez, Army Cyber Command commanding general.
The birthday celebration includes a living historical timeline of the U.S. Army, displays and exhibits, refreshments, a United Service Organizations (USO) mobile van and a flyover from four, 12th Aviation Battalion helicopters.
