The DoD has directed all Transportation offices to use a new online system called the Defense Personal Property (DPS) as the one-stop source for managing personal property moves. For the first time, Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) will have oversight of claims and Transportation Service Provider (TSP) information in one convenient location. In addition, DPS will provide the convenience of 24/7 access to personal property shipment information and a conduit for a direct relationship between DOD members and TSPs throughtout the entire moving process. Your local transportation office is available to assist you at anytie throught your move.

I encourage you to make use of e-mail via the website when possible, instead of telephoning the JPPSOWA. We receive over a half-million calls per year. During the Peak Season (April - September) our telephone system is not able to handle the volume of calls, so you may experience longer than usual wait times. Every move is important to us, so your patience will be greatly appreciated.

Remember to complete your Customer Satisfaction Survey (CSS). You, as a customer, can assist in improving the quality of personal property moves. You opinion counts and every survey completed will enhance the program. The CSS is the primary source of data that is used in determining the performance portion of each Transportation Service provider.

Good luck in your new assignment!

Sincerely
COL Wronko
Commander, JPPSO Washington Area
